Air pollution increases due to the following factors:
1.Industrialization
2.Increasing Traffic
3.Growing Cities

Major Air pollutants are Carbon dioxide,Sulphur dioxide,Carbon Monoxide,Nitrogen oxide,Chlroflorocarbons(CFC),etc....
Burning of coal,oil,natural gases produce carbondioxide,CFC gases are released mainly from air-conditioning system &refrigeration,which leads to a reduction of ozone layer that protects the earth from the ultraviolet rays of the sun,carbon monoxide is a colourless gas that is produced by the incomplete burning of carbon based fuels.Nitrogen oxide causes smog and acid rain.It produces from burning fuels(Petrol,Diesel).

What we can do to reduce air pollution
We can also contribute to reducing air pollutin to some extend.One of the first things we can start doing is to conserve energy.

• walk or ride a bicycle to the market.
• switch of the lights and fans each time when we leave the room.
  
• Select products that are water-based or have low amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
• Store solvent in air-tight containers.
  
• Paint with a brush, not a sprayer.
• Choose recycled products.
• Choose products with recyclable packaging.
• Reuse paper bags.
• Recycle paper, plastics, and metals.
• Print and photocopy on both sides of the paper.
